The semester is coming to an end. I was giving my final project requirements. I had to create any clock I wanted but I had to use any 3 machines in the innovation center. I decided to create a wooden clock cut out with the CNC router. Then design a stand and have it 3D printed on the 3D printer. Finally I would vinyl the clock number and Blackhawks logo on the face of the clock. Below are the steps I took to create my Final Project.
CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS CLOCK
Research
Before I even started this project I already knew what I was going to do. I want the clock out of wood and to have it black hawks themed. I am going to biscuit 4 pieces of 2x4 together so it is 14 inches in diameter when I cut out the clock. |
Step 2
I designed two colors for the logo and number. I chose black and white. This is the final Illustrator file and is ready for the veil cutter. |
Step 3
After I got done with the stickers I went to work on the stand for the clock. I needed it to be able to hold a heavy piece of wood that was 1.11 inches thick. I made it in inventor and then printed it using Maker Bot in black. |
Step 4
Then I designed the wooden clock that is going to be cut out on the CNC router. I got the measurment needed for the clock mechanism to fit in and then set it up in Fusion. |
Step 5
After Fusion I went to go the cutter. I picked black and white for the stickers to get cut out of. I then used the transfer paper and got them ready to be put on the clock. |
Step 6
I decided to paint my clock red so that the black and white pop out after I used the CNC router to cut out the clock. It took about 20 min and I had to stop the bit several times to change the clamps so the bit would not hit. |
FINAL PRODUCT
I put everything together and I am very happy how it turned out.

Over all this final project was the best project all year. I got to design my clock however I wanted to with no restrictions. I used the CNC Router to cut out the clock out of wood. Then I 3D printed the black stand and used the vynl cutter for the clock numbers and black hawks logo. I used Fusion 360, Inventor, and Illustrator also to create my clock. I am very happy how my design turned out. This class was very fun and thank you Mrs. Proctor and Mr. W for a great Semester.
